Japan vs. USA, which diet is healthier? – 1975 Japanese food is the healthiest
Tohoku University and Prof. Tsuzuki presented research on diet. Surprisingly, the amount (balance) of carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins was not significantly different between Japanese and US diet, however, the Japanese food group generally had high gene expression of energy, carbohydrate, and lipid metabolism systems, and the stress response of gene expression was low. Furthermore, the amount of visceral fat was small and the blood lipid concentration was low. Studies indicated some concerns that there will be a brake on longevity among Japanese with their current diet. This suggests that Japanese diet in 1975 contributed to healthy longevity (specific menu from 1975 in Japan is available in this article).
