Greetings from the New President

Lifestyle medicine is an evidence-based medical specialty aimed at helping patients prevent, manage, and reverse chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. By intervening in the six pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, avoidance of dangerous substances such as tobacco use and excessive alcohol intake and positive social connections, we aim to prevent chronic diseases which can be effectively prevented.
JSLM recognizes the need for action regarding the socio-economic determinants of health and is aimed at learning and building a network of medical professionals with the goals of promoting knowledge of lifestyle disease medicine, evidence-based education and sustainable lifestyle changes. Lifestyle medicine is an important approach that is key to helping us live healthy and happily.
We hope this society will serve as a forum for the dissemination of information from a variety of viewpoints and lively discussions, thereby providing a driving force for preventive medicine.
